1. Low density: Mg-Li is the world’s lightest metal alloy, which a density is about 0.95-1.65 g /cm3. Mg-Li all
oy can help to reduce more than 45% weight compared with aluminum alloy, and more than 15% weight compare with other magnesium alloys (under equal volume).
2. Superplasticity: The high-temperature tensile elongation of Mg-Li alloy is greater than 200%. By using superplastic forming processing, we can get precision, complex-shaped, thin-walled Mg-Li pieces.
3. Excellent deformability: the yield of Mg-Li is better than Al alloys and common Mg alloys using the traditional plastic deformation process. The yield of cold rolling can reach more than 90%.
4. Excellent damping performance: the damping coefficient of Mg-Li alloy is 3-5 times that of Al alloys, which is suitable for making equipment with shock absorption requirements.
5. Great electromagnetic shielding performance: Mg-Li alloy belongs to non-magnetic metal materials, which have a good shielding effect on electromagnetic waves of different bands. It is suitable for making gyroscope shells, shielding shelters, anti-interference control cabinets, etc.
6. Great welding performance: Mg-Li alloy is easy to fuse with the body alloy and other magnesium alloys, and can be welded by laser welding, friction stir welding, TIG welding, electron beam welding, and brazing technology.
7. Good irradiation resistance: the experiment shows that the irradiation resistance of Mg-Li alloy is better than common magnesium alloy. In the high-energy electron irradiation experiment, the irradiation resistance of Mg-Li alloy and Al alloy is comparable.
Application
Mg-Li alloy is the lightest metal structure material in the world, and its lightweight application prospect is very broad. It can be applied to satellites, missiles, aircraft, laptop shells, high-end electronic product structures, customized sports equipment, high-end audio diaphragm, etc. It is one of the most ideal structural materials in aerospace, the weapon industry, automobile, 3C, medical equipment, and other fields.
